Frost Tolerant. Features varieties of Organic Lacinato Dinosaur Kale. A cold-hardy variety of delicious kale and part of the species of plant, brassica oleracea (wild cabbage). Sow outside 1 - 2 weeks before last frost, when soil temp is above 45 degrees. Kale tolerates both warm and cold temperatures. This is a hardy, winter variety. Kale needs full sun and well-drained soil. Crops in the brassicaceae family prefer similar care and conditions, nicknamed 'brassica'.
The plant is ready to be repotted when purchased. It can be repotted in a container or directly in the ground.
Pests: common pests of brassicas are flea beetles and cabbage loopers. Flea beetles can be treated with sprays made of chili pepper or neem oil. For cabbage worms and loopers, use bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) products.
