OUR STORY
Dawn’s Harvest was born from the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, sustainable, and culturally meaningful food—and that reconnecting with nature, even in small ways, can bring healing, joy, and nourishment.
What began as a personal journey toward food sovereignty and sustainable living has grown into a public space rooted in care for our community and our planet. Named after our daughter, “Dawn,” our pop-up nursery turned urban farm on San Antonio’s Eastside is both a love letter to the land and a call to action: to remember the wisdom of our ancestors, to relearn the basics of growing and preparing food, and to share what we have with others.
Today, our retail farmstand features plants and seeds for sale—with our produce and eggs growing in—cultivated with organic methods, either on-site or sourced from other local growers. But beyond food, we’re growing something deeper: a place where beauty and dignity take up space. Our once-vacant lot is now home to native wildflowers, native trees, pollinator gardens, and community beds (chickens coming soon) that offer fresh inventory for sale and, when there's excess, produce freely to those in need. We’re also creating refuge: natural seating under a hackberry tree, seasonal workshops in English and Spanish, and food pantries that support families with essentials like diapers, food, clothing, and literature.
In 2024, we fundraised to establish a physical location and formed partnerships with: the City of San Antonio's Office of Sustainability, Texas Women's University Center for Women Entrepreneurs, and the Bexar Audubon Society. We also received in-kind support from the City of San Antonio's Metro Health Department, the City of San Antonio's Office of Historic Preservation, and the Cooperative Gardens Commission. Thanks to these partnerships and support from our customers, friends, and family, our urban farm and farmstand opened April 4, 2025 at 230 S Monumental St in Denver Heights, San Antonio!
When you buy from us, you’re supporting a vision: one that values sustainability, equity, beauty, and belonging. You’re growing with us—and for that, we’re deeply grateful.
From our harvest to yours, thank you.
