2 buds per packet, roughly 5 sq ft
Common Sunflower seeds: Will sprout from the ground near the end of spring and blooms throughout summer. Can grow 6 to 10 feet tall or more with lots of blooms. Home to native wildlife. More information. Sourced from East San Antonio. Seeds are native to the Texas bioregion, non-GMO, and organic.
Maturity: Days vary
Plant height: 6' - 10'
Seed Spacing: scatter by hand or with seeder
Seed Depth: 1/8" - 1/4"
Days to Germination: 20 - 30
How to plant: Break off the seeds from buds in the package. Wet the area where seeds will be planted. Scatter seeds shallowly in a bright, sunny area in late fall for blooms in late spring or in late winter for summer blooms. Step on the seeds to ensure they are shallowly dug into the dirt.
Recommended: Prepare the area for seed sowing by removing weeds, and adding a thin layer of healthy soil mixture of native soil, compost, sand, and garden soil for planting. Check that the soil is healthy, loamy, medium-moist, and well-drained. Water when soil dries; keep the seeds moist, but do not overwater until they are sprouted. Recommend to mulch sprouts in winter. Flowers will go dormant in winter and mulch protects them. Blooms March through October.
