Frost Tolerant. A cold-hardy lacinato-type kale dazzling shades of green to purple with purple midribs, and part of the species of plant, brassica oleracea (wild cabbage). Sow outside 1 - 2 weeks before last frost, when soil temp is above 45 degrees. Kale tolerates both warm an cold temperatures. This is a hardy, winter variety. Kale need full sun and well-drained soil. Crops in the brassicaceae family prefer similar care and conditions, nicknamed 'brassica'.
Pests: common pests of brassicas are flea beetles and cabbage loopers. Flea beetles can be treated with sprays made of chili pepper or neem oil. For cabbage worms and loopers, use bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) products.
Harvesting: by clipping individual leaves, the eating quality will improve into late fall
